We are proud to present three different scripts to the movie “A Walk To Remember” and three articles by yours truly about their evolution. This is useful for those of you who are interested in the evolution of the story as it made it’s way from the book to the big screen.
“A Walk To Remember” by Karen Janzen (July 27, 2000) — This appears to be Karen’s first draft (or at least one of the earliest drafts). It represents Karen’s original vision of what she had in mind for adapting Nicholas Sparks’ wonderful book to the big screen. It has no scene numbers or other telltales of a production draft of the script. The basic story is there, but there are MANY differences from the final draft. This script is only available in a PDF (download Acrobat(tm) Reader) from The Daily Script, or this server. [dailyscript.com] [awalktorememberonline.org]
“A Walk To Remember” by Karen Janzen (March 30, 2001 — PINK SHOOTING DRAFT) — This appears to be the last full shooting draft and is dated less than 2 weeks before they began shooting the movie. Many changes were made here from the previous drafts at the wishes of the producers and director. Here you will also find scenes that were filmed, but cut; scenes that were never filmed to save time and money; and alternate versions of many scenes in the movie; as well as some different order in the scenes. This is being typed by yours truly and is a time consuming process. It is not done yet, but you can read what I have so far. Click Here.
“A Walk To Remember” transcript by Brian Brady — A transcript of the final version of the film. This is exactly how it appears on the screen. As you can see there were many changes made, even from the shooting draft. Scenes were cut or reordered. Dialog was rewritten or cut down. Scenes were added or deleted. Click Here.
Adapting “A Walk To Remember” — an article written by yours truly discussing the evolution of the adaptation from Nicholas Sparks’ novel to Karen’s early draft script, through the production draft, and finally to the big screen. Information here comes from various sources and some of it is conjecture based upon outside sources.. COMING SOON!!!
“A Walk To Remember: The Deleted Scenes” — A listing of all of the scenes that appeared in the pink shooting draft but were removed from the final version of the film, followed by my speculation (and in a few cases, info from the production team) as to why it was deleted. COMING SOON!!!
“A Walk To Remember: The Revised Scenes” — A listing of all of the scenes that appeared in the pink shooting draft in a significantly different form from the final version of the film, followed by my speculation (and in a few cases, info from the production team) as to why it was changed. COMING SOON!
I hope you enjoy reading these scripts and articles as much as I enjoyed bringing them to you!!!
